06.10.14 - Lafayette Art & Design Center in shanghai – hiver 2014

shanghai

Marc Albert first studied in Marseille fine art school in the south of France. it’s only after being involved for a long time in the scene of contemporary dance and show business that Marc came back to his first material and started to explore more plastic art form. He turn himself to ceramic, working then with clay and porcelain which he particularly chose for it’s transparency allowing light to be be part of it’s material.

Starting to make usual object, he later began a collection of few table art work, then progressively more and more installations appeared in his work and sculpture became the core of his work shop. As a dancer movement is inherent to his philosophy, movement being the signature of life and ongoing ness… the process of making a sculpture is a story of movement, a dance between the sculptor and the clay…

And the remembrance of it’s creation, the way it was hold still resonate in this most rigid and still material. Marc is always been sensitive to how human being are investing space .Their own space, the space around them. The frontier between the inner and outer environment being their skin… somehow the same problematic he had when he was doing more usual objects, if we look at a bowl being what separate liquids from air… Looking at human body, the skin become what separates their inner content from the environment… Sensitive, porous, living and breathing surface more than strict frontiers.

With his new collection called « Catherins », those antic yet timeless natural form are presented in a modern environment, leaving the rigidity of pedestal to suspend them in an aerial metallic frame, fragile and eternal, breathing in light and  freely informing us of their vibrating presence in space. Their signatures.
